ADI backup battery melt down

Hi! Has anyone had an ADI backup battery melt down on them? My shop just installed a backup battery for a customer yesterday and they were flying today and had to make emergency landing due to lots of smoke in cockpit due to this battery melting. Any information or others that have seen this please let me know...

Hi Larry,

We haven't seen any batteries melt. One customer had a battery come apart, but it was being charged with way too much current. The charging current for the ADI batteries is less than 800mA.

Also, how long has the customer had the battery?

I do not exactly how long he had the battery before he brought it to me to install! I understand it melted pretty bad. It is at another shop right now where they had to land so have just heard that it melted pretty bad.

Any ideas what could have gone wrong?

At this time we don't have any ideas. The other shop has called me and we are looking into a few things. I'll post back with anything we find. Thanks!
