Autpilot stated hunting after 2 years

I have a DigiFlight II VSGV with a 430W and GRT EFIS. It has been working flawlessly for 2 years and just recently started hunging slowly along the track. It does not matter what mode I am in. It even does it when in track mode. I have not changed the activity yet. Before I do I would like to know why it just started doing it after working perfectly for 2 years.

It's possible that the gyro is starting to fail. One easy thing to check though is the aileron deflection with the servo engaged. Measure the amount of movement of the trailing edge of an aileron while the system is engaged. We could be seeing some slack in the system that is casuing the wandering. Let me know what you find.

Just to rule out something else, you might also (on a VFR day) turn both the GRT and 430 OFF and then engage the AP to see what it does.

I have measured the play in the elevator at the trailing edge and it is less that 1/4 inch.

If the gyro is failing what do you suggest I do?

If the gyro is failing, the unit would have to be returned to us. Try increasing the lateral activity setting first. Before we start sending components back and forth. Go up in increments of one. Let me know the result. Thanks!
