Hello TruTrak, I have been flying my RV-6 for 5 years with the DigiflightII with GPSS, auto-pitch trim. It has worked beautifully until I upgrade my Gramin 430 to a 430WAAS. GPSS works until the final approach fix and then drops into the track mode and will not reengage. I read an earlier thread that changing the output to low solved the problem. My problem is different, it works until the last part of the approach, inside the outer marker. Any thoughts?

Check your ARINC setting in the 430W. After upgrade to WAAS, Garmin resets all the settings to default and the default do not work correctly. The digiflight II installation manual on our website will walk you through the correct setup. Thanks!

Lucas,
I went back and checked the Main ARINC 429 setting on my Garmin 430W and they were set to OUT-Low, Data-429 GAMA. I went and flew an ILS and as stated before it flew beautifully to the last fix (outer marker) in GPS-S and then reverted to TRACK and would not reengage GPS-S???? My TruTrak is the DigiFlight 200 VS, I don't know if that makes any difference (early rectangular control head.) Thanks for any additional input.

Hi Alex,

Well, that does make a difference. You are going to need an AP with GPSS capability to keep it in anything but track mode inside the marker. We can do an upgrade from the D200 to our current Digiflight II line. Just give our office a call.

Lucas, I finally got to the bottom of things concerning no GPSS on ILS
approaches and my Garmin 430W. Garmin changed things when they went to the WAAS upgrade. Before they allowed the autopilot to have GPSS inside the final approach fix during an ILS approach and with WAAS they do not. This is no problem, I just have to select the RNAV GPS approach and then the Garmin 430 will allow GPSS all the way to the Decision Height.
