So when do we get a discussion thread for the new products?

I'm sure that there are others out there that have questions. I know I have some.

Go ahead and post up in here! I probably won't make a specific forum for the Gemini until they are closer to actual production. This forum will work just fine I think!

Lucas,
Any update on the NEW Gemini line?
I see TT's ad in Sport Aviation mag.
Ad says see website or call.
I really have to look hard on the website to find them.

I really love my ADI Pilot II........
but my vacuum system is acting up, so I'd love to replace it
with your new line!
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

We're planning on some new website changes in the not-too-distant future. The Gemini is under the "What's New at Trutrak" section. The link is at the bottom of the page. :(

We're working as quickly as we can. Unfortunately, the display we're using for the product will not even be available from the manufacturer until sometime in January of 2011. My best advice is to just keep checking back. The forum here is a great place to ask. Thanks!

Is the plan for Gemini such that it will support a 3rd gyro to allow for enhanced stability on a Carbon Cub or similar aircraft with significant adverse yaw?

The Gemini will fly a Cub just as well as our Digiflight II series does now. Thank!

Tho I really like my ADI II coupled w/ my GNS430, I'd really like it to be able to fly down the glide slope.

Will the new Gemini fly a descent?

If so, will conversion require new servos?

Will a conversion require new wires (RS232-> ?)

What's the time frame for availability?

What's the projected price?

Thanks.

The AP880 will fly a GPS approach glideslope.

It will require exchange of your pitch servo.

You will need the ARINC 429 wires connected.

3rd quarter of 2011.

The AP880 will be $5500, servos included. Since you have the roll servo already and only need the trim sensing upgrade on the pitch, your cost will be $3500.

Thanks for the update on the Gemini.

Can I assume that the servo is a bolt-in replacement?

Yes, the servo is a direct replacement.

Lucas,

What is the target pricing for the PFD version of the Gemini?

I assume the attitude works like the current ADI? In other words it is a Velocity Vector Display?

How do you set the baro?

How good/readable is the screen? How about direct sunlight?

Do they have a backup battery?

What connections do they need to the outside world?

Hi Brian,

1.) $1300 for the PFD.

2.) Yes and no. It will have a velocity vector display, but also show true pitch attitude. This will be a user selectable option between the two.

3.) Baro set will be done on the main screen with the touch screen controls.

4.) It is a transflective display, so direct sunlight doesn't diminish its readability.

5.) There will not be an integrated battery to save weight. We do have our ADI battery. We also sell TCW products, including their Integrated Backup Battery System.

6.) Just like the ADI, power, ground, RS232, pitot, static. That's it. Dimming will be internally controlled with a user selectable level from the main screen.

This may be a question for Rob, but will there be AFS flavors of the Gemini product line?

We do plan to do that, but it will not be available at initial release.

Can you tell us what new products you'll have on display at OSH?

We'll have the latest on the Gemini series, come by and chat with me about how that's going. ;)

We'll also be holding a drawing for a new iPad2. Booth 4139!

Lucas,

I notice in the literature for the Gemini it says it displays "bank angle". I thought I understood that previous instruments such as the ADI were at least partly showing turn rate. Is Gemini different, or do I have my story mixed up?

thanks

So sorry, I missed this post!

It actually displays both. If you look at the picture, you'll see the white marks in a half moon arrangement near the top. Those are bank angle. You'll also see two small red marks mixed in, those are a standard rate turn. Thanks!
