I have vented Static to the cabin because when hooked up to the main static line servicing EFIS, EMS, Alternate Static the AP unit has a leak when doing a Pitot/Static Certificaton. Is there some reason why the AP unit leaks?

When the Avionic shop took the AP Static line off of the AP my system pasted the test. Also when the equipment for static was hooked up to the AP unit itself it would not pass.??

I have read posts on having static line vented to the cabin, which I don't mind, but I want to make a dedicated vent outside eventually. Since the Avionic Shop said the unit has a problem will I have a problem when I dedicate a static outside??

Vertical Activity ______?
Vertical Torque _______?
Static Lag _______?

Lateral Activity _______?
Lateral Torque ________?
Gps Gain ________?

Just wanting to know what other RV-7's are using when static is in cabin

Thanks,
Don Short

Don,

If the AP has a static leak, it could be one of two things. Either the plastic block on the back where the fittings screw in is cracked, or a hose is disconnected inside the unit. Check the block really well with the fitting screwed in and check for a fracture.

For an RV7, set both activities at 2, both torques at 12, static lag at 0, GPSS Gain should be left at 16. Thanks!
