Hi Lucas:

I am working on my RV-7 with a Digiflight II VSGV with autotrim. The servos and harness are all installed and secured up to the instrument panel. I am now about to wire the controller and autotrim units. In looking at my wire routing I may have goofed up. I have my comm coax and servo harnesses bundled together on two runs and my pitch servo harness and one Whelen strobe conduit also bundled together, AND I forgot to install a shielded wire for my CWS switch (that is easily fixed). Yes, I am stupid.... should I take things apart and separate the harnesses, comm coax and strobe conduits??

Hi Lucas:

I was just checking out the forum and I see you have addressed RF issues in the past by suggesting this filter:

I may be off base but what if I just proactively installed one of these filters on the controller instead of re-routing so much of my wiring? Do you think that might be just as effective?

Doug,

That's honestly a tough call. Rerouting the wiring is the correct way to do it, but I completely understand the aversion to doing it.

The filter has shown good results with nearly everyone using it. So, I have to leave this choice up to you. :)

Yep, I know that is a tough one. I think I'll get the filter anyway. It certainly can't hurt. Think I'll send an inquiry into the VAF site and see if anyone as had any issues.

Thanks

The filters have worked dramatically for myself and many other TruTrak users on multiple models of the autopilot. Just do it!

Yes I intend to get the filter(s) regardless. Let me ask this: do you install one filter at the controller or separate ones at the servos or all the above. They are really not that expensive.

At the control head has done it for everyone for whom it worked. The servos seem to be completely insensitive to RF.
