I have 2 gps's...should the ARINC switch be DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) or DPDT center off to isolate the Digiflight control head when I want to use the digiflight lateral and vertical modes..???
PS - Not in training.....!!

A DPDT switch will work. If you want to use the DII VSGV in just track mode and alt hold, you simply don't engage the GPSS and GPSV modes. When first engaged, the AP will be in track mode and SVS (vertical speed will synchronize). You don't need a center off on the ARINC switch. Thanks!
LOL, I was trying to "spice up" the user titles a little. Just keep posting!

I don't remember if all models are the same, but once upon a time there was a good reason for using the "center off" position. The time you would use this was if ATC asked you to fly a heading (all vectors are Magnetic, not True). At least in the older models, whenever a GPS signal was available then dialing in a course would always give you a True, not a Magnetic heading. Turning off all GPS sources would force the autopilot to revert to Magnetic.
TruTrak chime in if this has changed with newer models...
