I have the dreaded altitude jump when I use my COMM2 (an SL-30). Using COMM1 (GNC300XL) doesn't cause a problem.
I've tried a re-routed cable to the antenna without success. However just for the heckof it I inserted a piece of aluminum sheet between the radio stack and the ADI II head, and made sure it was grounded, and it noticeably reduced the effect. I mention this because my ADI has a plastic case and I read that possibly switching to a metal case may help. My test seems to indicate that it might.
Do you agree, and if so can I send my unit in to get a metal case?

Thanks,

Dennis Glaeser

Hi Dennis,

We have had good success with the metal casing. Just PM me with your address and phone number. I'll get you an RMA# to return it. The only difference is the metal case upgrade puts the pitot and staic fittings close together and on the bottom of the unit instead of the top. Thanks!

If that doesn't fix it for you, perhaps you would volunteer $20 and test out the solution found in this thread? (http://trutrakap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43)

It would be good to have confirmation one way or the other.
