I have a Garmin 495. How do I connect my Digitrak to it?

Connect the Blue wire from the Garmin harness to pin 17. Make sure that the 495 and TruTrak are both sharing a common ground point (if you just ran the GPS off internal battery and did not ground it to the aircraft, the signal would not work).
Make sure the GPS serial output is set to NMEA or NMEA / VHF.

I really don't understand this. I don't have a wiring harness. The only wire connected to the GPS is the one to the cigarette lighter plug. Do I need to purchase a Garmin wiring harness of some sort?
Thanks

Yes, you want a "bare" wiring harness. Red is power, black is ground. Yellow is serial input (in case you had a 430 or other GPS from which you wanted your flight plan to feed back into the hand-held); Blue is serial output (which will steer your TruTrak), and also possibly send radio frequencies to a compatible Nav/Comm radio such as an SL30.
I'm sure you can get them from Stein Air (http://www.steinair.com/); probably available from Aircraft Spruce or on line from Garmin, too.

Now I understand.

You need the power/data cable. It's ~$28 from Garmin. Pholly is correct, you need the blue wire from the P/D cable.
