Is there any merit in connecting the ARINC lines in the provided harness to the IIVS given that it is not configured for GPSS?

It has been suggested that I have a switch to take serial info from either the 430w (as per TT installation) and also from the EFIS. What is the practicality of using EFIS serial data when using the autopilot?

Absolutely - connect both ARINC and Serial.

May be stupid, but if a wire breaks in flight you can still use the GPS to drive the autopilot. Too, TruTrak allows upgrades at a later date. This way your wiring will already be in place.

PhantomPholly is correct. Go ahead and connect the ARINC. If you decide to upgrade to the VSGV at a later date, it will not require any rewiring.

A switch on the serial lines will allow you to change between GPS sources. In the event your 430 were to stop working, you could switch to the AFS serial output and still have the full function of the autopilot. Thanks!

I've decided to upgrade from IIVSto IIVSGV, while I am in the process of wiring everything up. The unit is twelve months old now so may need other upgrades as well. Can you email me a quote for the upgrade?

The current AFS ARINC 429 wiring diagram 53620WD shows no serial wire going from the EFIS to the VSGV.
I have a 430W and a 530W and I want to be able to drive the AP from either the EFIS or the 430 or the 530.
I have set up two switches through small latching relays. One switch selects which GNS, the other selects GNS or EFIS.
When EFIS is selected, what do I do with the serial lines from the Garmins? Should one of them be connected to the AP or should they both be isolated along with their ARINC lines?

Thanks,
John
